Welcome to OpenWorld
What is OpenWorld?
OpenWorld is a campaign cataloging software that I have started work on to organize and expediate the building of my campaing worlds. I am an idividual who works on multiple tasks at the same time, and sometimes my writing is a flurry of words that make no sense until I re-write them. Other times I just hurry up and write a few ideas down and then run the risk of losing those ideas. OpenWorld is really designed for me, but I think others will find use for it too so I will be sharing it.
What Can OpenWorld Do?
- OpenWorld will utilize the same Game Tree that is going into Pious Paladin. This will allow you to load any node from your Game Tree right into OpenWorld.
- OpenWorld uses two instances of the Game Tree, one for your Campaigns and one for your Characters. You will be able to organize your characters sheets and campaigns, and also build nodes that you can use in your games.
- OpenWorld has a large editing space. This space will utilize the design panels of the nodes, allowing you to build large nodes inside one large window.
- OpenWorld's text editor will be a rich HTML based text editor. This will allow you to modify your Text Nodes to include HTML, but you never have to look at the HTML code itself.
These are just some of the features that are going into OpenWorld.
How Can I Get OpenWorld?
If you are interested in downloading OpenWorld I will be releasing the source code under the GPL v 2.0. OpenWorld is borrowing several pieces of technology from OpenRPG, and in it's design will be lending new technology to OpenRPG. So while no code is available yet, OpenWorld's development is a precursor to the next Traipse OpenRPG milestone.
You can download the preliminary code right now in the Mercurial trac. The code is not complete, so be sure and check the Stand Up tab for my list of reports on what has been done so far.
Milestone 1.0.0 has been released. The software is not 100% complete but now I can gain some perspective from using it and feedback from other users. Download in the files tab.
